Film and Discussion: Against All Odds

Against All Odds

Sunday, December 17 - 2:00-3:30pm

We all have heard the Chanukah story about the one day supply of oil for the holy temple in Jerusalem that miraculously lasted for eight days; a miracle that occurred more than 2000 years ago.

Have you ever asked yourself if any miracles have occurred in modern times…in our time?  World renowned investigative journalist, Michael Greenspan, attempts to answer the question by accepting an intriguing assignment to investigate recorded instances of supernatural phenomena which helped create and preserve modern Israel.

How did Israel survive the War of Independence in 1948 with one tank and 5 guns, the Six-day War and Yom Kippur War? And all the wars in between?  Was it their sophisticated weaponry, their well-educated and prepared military, the genius strategy of its generals or help from other nations? The military experts at West Point won’t study Israel’s wars because their outcomes defy military logic.  Israel should not exist as a nation today but it not only exists, but thrives.  Why?  How?

We will watch episodes 2 and 3 of Against All Odds entitled Miracle At Michmash, and Shula: The Girl Who Became A Spy. The awe-inspiring incidents in this live-action series pose the question:  Does a divine power continue to uphold the country?  David Ben Gurion said “To live in Israel without believing in miracles is not practical.”
