All Congregants Welcome at Course on Holocaust & Jewish Resistance
On Thursday, October 26, a self-selected group of sixth graders and their parents will begin studying Holocaust and Jewish Resistance in an eight-week course taught by Abbie Laskey, a congregant.
While the active participants in this course will be the students and their parents, the course is open to all Temple Sinai congregants. In past years, several adult congregants “audited” the course. They attended as many sessions as they were able, accompanied the class on trips to museums on Long Island and in Manhattan and were provided with all class materials. Most important, these adult congregants listened with respect and great interest as several Holocaust survivors gave “testimony” to the class about their experiences during the Holocaust.
The class will meet on the following dates:
Thursdays, October 26, November 2, 9, 16, 30, March 8, 15, 22
Sunday, November 19, Jewish Heritage Museum*
Tuesday, April 10 & Wednesday, April 11
The students and parents in this course will share with the Congregation the lessons they have learned at Temple Sinai’s Yom HaShoah Shabbat service on Friday evening, April 13 at 6:30pm.
Any adult congregant interested in attending some or all of the sessions should notify the Temple office 516.621.6800.
