RICHARD EVANS, PRESIDENT
Dear Fellow Congregant,
As we approach the High Holy Days, we want to give you the opportunity to participate in our Kol Nidre campaign. We are hoping that you can find it in your heart and in your budget to donate $118 (or more if you are fortunate enough to be able to do so). We are asking that instead of going out to dinner one weekend night, which often costs at least $118, you will donate this amount to your Temple. Please know how much we appreciate your support!
As we conclude our celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Temple Sinai, we are fortunate to have much to celebrate: Our community is thriving, our array of programming continues to flourish, and the services we offer to those in need are exemplary.
Each year, Temple Sinai reaches out to all members during the High Holy Days asking you to support our annual Kol Nidre appeal. As you might not know, only 90% of our budget is covered by Temple Dues. The Kol Nidre appeal makes up the difference, enabling us to strengthen our home, our connections with families, with congregants, with Israel, and with Judaism. It is a critical resource in helping us achieve our mission.
As the parent of two college aged children, I truly understand the financial challenges of maintaining Temple membership and a busy family life. However, I’ve also personally seen how our Temple can influence people of all ages, especially my two children who grew into the adults they are today because of the welcoming and nurturing home that Temple Sinai provided them. I initially supported this pledge with a small donation, one that eventually grew. It represented a wonderful mitzvah, a gift from the heart, and engaged me deeper into the purpose of our community.
With your help we know that we can maintain the high quality programs and services that you, and so many other members, rely on, and that we can remain the Temple “where every heart has a home.”
Wishing you and your family all the best in 5779,
Richard Evans, President
